Logbook
This section includes entries with reflections on my performing arts career that will often interlap with reflections on my personal development. I started doing something similar with my Instagram posts a few months ago, and my community truly connected with it.
I’ve decided to upload more substantial reflections in here. If they resonate with you and you’d like to share your experiences/have further discussions, leave a comment or reach out! Even if you don’t work in the performing arts, I love to dissect these topics and conduct further social investigation.

Applications for festivals or grants feel so tedious to fill out, especially if you end up not getting them and then you feel like you put a ton of effort in for nothing. However, I want to share the perspective that my more hopeful, positive self (alas, they exist!) offered me on a recent application…
Give the story a body.
Lucía Duque is a movement director, choreographer, performer, and educator working across live performance, film, fashion, and community settings. They attend to the details through which a body communicates: the weight of a step, a hesitation, the distance one person keeps from another. Working with artists, creative teams, and organizations, they develop movement that gives an idea a physical form and a performance its particular character.

Tell Lucía what you are making.
Reach out about a production, presentation, performance, class, or collaboration. Share the idea, who will take part, and the role you would like movement to play. Your location, proposed dates, and budget, if known, will help establish the scope of the conversation.
For creative teams, a brief, treatment, or visual reference can provide a useful starting point. For educators and community organizations, tell Lucía about the group and what you hope participants will have the opportunity to explore.
